A charming residence

Villa Poggiano is located in Montepulciano and sits atop a hill overlooking the rolling hills of the Val d’Orcia, immersed in a 6-acre century-old park.

An ancient villa of the 18th century that the current owners, after long and cautious restoration, have brought back to its past splendor. Villa Poggiano and its adjacent structures were built as a summer residence in the 18th century and the central body of the villa was later expanded to encompass the current structure. The last series of significant interventions date back to the 1940s, when hefty exterior works were carried out, including construction of the swimming pool, the statues and fountains. The works were inspired by the neoclassical style of the period, particularly around the swimming pool area, of which a tangible example are the statues of the Stadio dei Marmi in Rome designed by architect Enrico del Debbio between 1927 and 1932.

Since then the villa has passed hands several times until, in 2000, after an accurate and long renovation, it was restored to its former splendor and transformed into an enchanting relais. Villa Poggiano welcomes its guests in a refined and exclusive environment that has nonetheless maintained a homely touch, making it a relaxing haven, where time passes slower than elsewhere.
The suites and rooms are elegantly furnished with tasteful paintings and period objects, equipped with spacious marble bathrooms fitted with showers or bathtubs. Villa Poggiano is the ideal place for anyone looking for a refined, quiet and secluded place and a warm welcome.

Villa Poggiano is an ideal starting point to visit the great Tuscan art cities (Siena, Florence, Perugia, Assisi and Rome), as well as the small and charming towns in the immediate vicinity, such as Montepulciano, Pienza, Monticchiello, Montalcino and Cortona.
