Valentino is struck by Russian fever
The S/S 2014 collection from Valentino breathes an air of magical Russian nights.
Romantic, exotic and ethnic.
The hairstyles and otherworldly faces of Russian tsarinas set the mood of the show, which stakes out the ground where Russia and ancient Byzantium meet….the volumes are large, the lines, precise, and the materials, opulent.
A kaleidoscope of colors springs out of predominantly black backgrounds, though with their fair share of nudes and transparencies, used judiciously, avoiding any vulgarity. The very talented creative directors took new eyes to this season’s lietmotifs. Gold studs deck the accessories and clothes of its prêt-à-porter collection, rendering them alluring and tough. They are made for those of you who like to be bold without ever being obvious. They are the final proof, if any were needed, that all black looks will still take you anywhere you want to go, even in the summer.
Denim makes its appearance too, decked with beautiful colorful trimmings featuring gold.
The dresses are either super short or super long. No middle ground this season.
The collection makes room for off-white lace to wear with must-have espadrilles or flat sandals, adorning your feet with leather laces and details, gold like their jewels.
This beguiling collection enchants at a level made possible only by the incredible talent of Valentino‘s virtuoso creative directors, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli.
