Experience, know, and love the Tuscan countryside
Castelfalfi is a jewel set in the heart of Tuscany, a beautiful land rich in art and culinary traditions. The medieval hamlet – which has not forgotten its Etruscan origins – has been carefully renovated to retain its original character and welcome those who seek an authentic Tuscan experience.
Located in the heart of Tuscany, in the municipality of Montaione between Florence and Volterra, the Castelfalfi Estate has always been a natural paradise, rich in simple traditions. Renovated as of 2007, the Toscana Castelfalfi Resort is surrounded by sun-drenched, slightly breethy, green hills covered in vineyards and olive groves stretching for kilometres. Strategically located – only 60 minutes away from Florence airport, 40 minutes from Pisa airport, and only a few minutes away from the artistic and cultural treasures of Tuscany – Castelfalfi is experiencing a second Renaissance.
The first phase of this majestic project has been the regeneration of the ancient Borgo. Its main buildings have been completely renovated, split into 48 flats of different size and, on the ground floor, a variety of small shops. 95% of these properties has been sold to an international clientele, thus injecting a new life into this “Sleeping Beauty”. The beating heart of the hamlet is the Castle, inaugurated in 2014. It houses the gourmet restaurant “La Rocca”, managed by the chef Michele Rinaldi – awarded his first Michelin star when he was only 27 – whose cuisine boasts refined techniques which do not neglect simple traditions and a pronounced attention to details.
Hospitality, openness, natural beauty, innovation, sustainability, well-being: this is what characterises Il Castelfalfi Resort Golf SPA, the new five star complex scheduled to open in spring 2017. At the other end of the Borgo, the former Toscano tobacco drying warehouse has been converted into a charming four star hotel: La Tabaccaia. The restorers took great pain in using traditional materials, colours and styles typical of the region. Each of the 31 rooms has a Tuscan decor, with restored beams and cotto tiled ceilings which date back to the original construction. At the same time, the furniture of modern design aims to mirror the hotel’s rich past, while providing elegant comfort.
Castelfalfi, with its golf course, the biggest in Tuscany, attracts golf lovers from all over the world. The courses of the Golf Club Castelfalfi have been designed in compliance with sustainability principles without adding any artificial elements. Its 27 challenging holes are set in extremely fascinating scenery: over 9,400 metres of rolling greens surrounded by olive groves.
