The story of a man and his brand
A brand that is as stylish as its creator. Because wearing Tom Ford means becoming part of an imaginative and fluid universe where cinema, fashion, art and glamour are inextricably linked. The common thread is Tom Ford: fashion designer, film director and scriptwriter who, after completing his studies in architecture, left an indelible mark on the fashion system. In 2005, following his successful experience at the creative helm of Gucci, Tom Ford founded his own brand alongside the former Gucci President and CEO Domenico De Sole, who took up the role of the new company’s president. In April 2007, his first directly owned flagship store in New York on Madison Avenue opened and coincided with the debut of his menswear and accessory collections. In September 2010, during an intimate presentation at his flagship store on Madison Avenue, Ford introduced his eagerly-awaited womenswear collection.
Those were the years in which he also made a brilliant foray into filmmaking: A Single Man, the story of the last day in the life of a homosexual professor, is the celebration of elegance and attention to details. Aesthetically impeccable and yet so truly moving. In 2013, he directed Nocturnal Animals, a beautifully filmed neo-noir thriller, a masterwork of visual style, just like his first film.
In addition to ready-to-wear collections for him and her, Tom Ford creates and produces, in partnership with Marcolin Group and Estee Lauder respectively, an eyewear and beauty line collection. The brand now offers also Tom Ford timepieces and the underwear collection. There are currently more than 100 freestanding Tom Ford stores and shop-in-shops in locations such as London, Milan, Zürich, Munich, New York City, Toronto, Moscow, Osaka, Las Vegas, Tokyo, Seoul, Montreal, San Francisco, Paris, Hong Kong, Shanghai, New Delhi, Beijing, Kuwait City, Sydney… and, last but not least, The Mall Firenze. The Tom Ford aesthetic is unmistakable: sensual, beautifully tailored clothing, spectacular and lavish and yet sophisticated outfits with a retro charm.
