14 to 17 June at Fortezza da Basso and other venues

They’re even coming from the other side of the world to Pitti Uomo in Florence. In its 102-year history ‘il Pitti’ – as the locals call it – has been decisive in the glamorous life of the fashion capital, with memories of the early runway shows in the White Room of Palazzo Pitti in the 50s, marking the birth of Made in Italy and the Italian fashion industry. Today the event is compulsory for anyone who works in or is connected with the sector.

From 14 to 17 June 2022, the 102nd edition presents four days of events, runway shows and installations that will turn the city upside down and connect Florence with the world.

It begins with the show/event of British designer Grace Wales Bonner, who presents her collection for the upcoming spring/summer on the evening of the 14th in a historical Florentine palace; this is followed by the edition’s guest of honour Ann Demeulemeester with a project that celebrates the iconic style of the label, now headed by Claudio Antonioli, who took over in 2020; the installation at Stazione Leopolda is also curated by the Belgian designer. Amidst the previews and special events taking place at Pitti Uomo, there are also some important anniversaries, such as the celebration of 70 years of Roy Roger’s, the first Italian denim brand, which marks the occasion on the evening of the 14th at Palazzo Vecchio with a short film by photographer Bruce Weber. Wp Lavori in Corso celebrates its 40th birthday at the Area Monumentale with the launch of the new Baracuta collection.

Away from the Fortezza, Superga chooses the Loggia of Piazzale Michelangelo for a special event whose guest of honour is actress and supermodel Emily Ratajkowski. And on 16 June, Gucci presents its new café & cocktail bar Giardino 25 at Piazza della Signoria 37, the latest addition to the Gucci Garden, conceived by creative director Alessandro Michele.
