Take on summer with confidence with a fresh new haircut, perhaps a short one to feel fun and carefree. Need inspiration? Look to the stars!

Summer has arrived and everyone wants to be free and cool. Go on and get a new haircut, perhaps a short, “adventurous” one; think asymmetrical, tousled, with or without bangs. The bangs might thin out in a side part, as seen on Saint Laurent‘s runways, or be full and heavy over the eyes like we saw for Fendi.

Bobs are short, left free to be just as they are. The part is on the side and they are layered in natural waves that could be held back by a clip; the tips could curl outwards in a nod to a ’60s revival.

This summer, celebs seem to be going for pixie cuts, naturally disheveled rather than overly sleek. Look for clean contours and exacting details, “shock cuts”, a blend of classic and casual with sleek lines, fresh contemporary looks, and ultra-feminine, alluring shapes.

Our summer hair muses: Anne Hathaway, Charlize Theron, Keira Knightley.

Another summer 2014 trend is beach waves, with a fresh-off-the-beach effect like they just dried under the sun as you stretched out at the beach. Featured by many stylists on the catwalks (like Emilio Pucci), you can artfully create “beachy hair” on long or medium hair alike.

This new summer trend takes inspiration from models like Gisele Bundchen and big stars like Beyoncè.
