Take a bite of the big apple’s fashion event for women!

The fashion weeks took place across the pond from 9 to 17 September 2015 in New York, and then moved to London, Milan and Paris.

The 2016 Spring Summer fashion week this year was held in a new venue, the Skylight at Moynihan Station and Skylight Clarkson Square, setting the trend for the 2016 spring-summer season.

Outerwear promises to be a ubiquitous item in the 2016 spring-summer collection, with a wide range of couture jackets, technical clothing in precious silk and bomber jackets – the iconic street wear customised with badges and pins – up to leather jackets that have shifted from punk to bourgeois by switching to a delicate caramel tint, to be worn with matching coat and trousers.

Accessories included chained bags and napa sacks in a metal mesh to be worn with a romantic outfit for some extra zest, or as a complement to a sporty look, worn loosely on the shoulder to add some black and white contrast on a bright outfit.

There was great care put into manufacturing techniques and materials on the New York runways.

Fishnets are back in vogue. Rigorously hand-made minute crochet create a see-through effect, and crochet all-over outfits are then laminated for extra brilliance and to create reflections on dresses and accessories.

Yet this week’s big event in New York is without doubt the celebrity catwalk by Kayne West, organised in conjunction with artist Vanessa Beecroft in an underground venue in Chelsea.

Mini-shorts, track-suit trousers, oversized jackets, bodysuits and desert boots in faded olive-green and cream all made for a distinctively new American style.
