The summer of international music
The Lucca Summer Festival awaits you a string of stunning concerts in the medieval walls of the Tuscan town. This 20th edition is packed with international names you just can’t miss, including the Rolling Stones special event on 23 September!
The Lucca Summer Festival – which over the years has brought artists such as Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Oasis, Alanis Morissette – usually takes place in Napoleone Square, except for Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood, who will perform at Campo Balilla, with the town’s splendid medieval walls serving as a background.
There are plenty of guests on the central stage, from Imagine Dragons to Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, for Ennio Morricone, Kasabian, Green Day and Rancid, LP with Rag’N’Bone Man and Lauryn Hill. Not to mention J Ax & Fedez, Flight, Robbie Williams, Erykah Badu and Mary J. Blige. But there’s more to come: the grand finale will be entrusted to the Rolling Stones, who return to Italy three years after their last Italian stage at Circus Maximus in Rome. For the only Italian date of this tour, the Rolling Stones have chosen Lucca and Tuscany, an area that has always exerted a great charm on them. As always, the Rolling Stones will give their European fans a list of classics such as Gimme Shelter, Paint It Black, Jumpin Jack Flash, Tumbling Dice and Brown Sugar, but they will also include a few unexpected new songs and some surprises randomly selected every night from their endless repertoire. For the STONES – NO FILTER tour, they will unveil a spectacular new production and a state-of-the-art performance.
The concert will take place in a location never used before, with the 500-year old medieval walls as a backdrop, an indisputable symbol of the city. The evening will also mark the 20 years of the Lucca Summer Festival.
