Skiing at the Abetone and the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines

Just an hour from Florence, an exceptional ski area awaits you to give free rein to your cravings for snow and skiing. The Abetone – located in the Apennines straddling Tuscany and Emilia Romagna – is the ideal destination to enjoy winter sports in an unsurpassed scenic environment.

These slopes have been open for over 80 years, making it one of the most famous ski resorts in all of central Italy. The Abetone is the undisputed master slope for skiing, frequented during winter by many skiiers. A renowned venue for snowy peaks of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, reaching up to 2000 meters.

A single ski area was built under the name of Abetone, bringing together smaller slopes which were then linked together with state-of-the-art equipment, totalling 50 km of slopes for all kinds of sports.

The Val di Luce, in the northern side of the facilities – whose tourist development dates back just 40 years – is perhaps the most striking part of the whole area. Val di Luce, thanks to an equipped snow park, is the ideal set for snowboarders who can grapple with freestyle, tricks, jumps or take an off-piste powder snow slope in total safety.

The Val di Luce is synonymous with relaxation, thanks to the Val di Luce Spa Resort, a luxury designer hotel located next to the slopes and featuring an exclusive spa. The Val di Luce Spa Resort awaits you in an unspoiled scenery after a long day on the slopes. But Abetone is also the place where you can practice cross country skiing, with tracked loops between white and red fir trees for a total of 15 km, for people who prefer to enjoy the snow in perfect harmony with nature.
