Four young creative people are put to the test

The collaboration between Ferragamo and four creative minds – three designers and one photographer – has given birth to #ItalianExcellence, a project of men’s accessories but above all about people. In a different way, these key players share a unique vision of Italian taste: as for Salvatore Ferragamo, culture, Italian language and history intertwine in all their creations.

“To create this collection we were inspired by archival shapes from the 50s and 60s combined with ultra-modern materials and with the maison emblem, the Gancini monogramme. A line of classic and contemporary products is born at the same time, embodying the values of Italian excellence. Francesco, Guido, Rodrigo and Derek are four brilliant young men united by a deep connection under the aegis of Italian culture.

After graduating from the IED in Milan, furniture designer Francesco Meda followed the family tradition started by his father Alberto and is one of the industry’s most promising talents. From his first public photo exhibition in 2009 at the age of 21, Guido Taroni built a rich portfolio of work based on chromatic harmony and dynamic simplicity. His creative philosophy: a vision of Italianness built around shared standards of excellence, integrity and quality. Born in Barcelona, Rodrigo Izquierdo has lived in Milan since 2005 where he founded his interior design studio. Rodrigo shares what he believes is the most exciting moment of his job: his sketches and specifications without substance, which take shape and become tangible realities. Derek Castiglioni learned the art of landscape design in the family plant nursery on Lake Como and subsequent architecture studies allowed him to develop a unique style that blurs the boundaries between external and internal space.
