Animals, flowers and beyond
Flora, fauna and much more promise an eccentric and hypnotic look this summer. Alberta Ferretti, Roberto Cavalli, Ermanno Scervino: optical prints capture these looks in a sinuous effect, with flowers back in vogue in opulent and luxuriant versions, while abstract graphics seem to be inspired by contemporary works of art.
Roberto Cavalli‘s fashion has always been a kaleidoscope of prints and images; a universe of various settings; a series of visions in which everything is mixed and subverted. Velvet blends with denim, Navajo prints and fabrics combine with precious brocades and crisp silk kimonos are worn over military cargo pants. References go back to Imperial Japan and America, the Victorian period and the 1970s, British tailors and the last rock concert at Coachella. Experimental fabrics and an obsession with details: this is Ermanno Scervino’s universe for the 2018 summer, where beauty is everywhere.
Suits are embellished by floral decorations and pearls; suits are sci-fi yet enjoy a marine touch with thousands of lines in navy blue, while evening dresses unveil sensual pleated lace in a total black look. Alberta Ferretti has also indulged in navy lines, while adding a touch of romance with inserts of lace bands. Admiral jackets are adorned with beaded embroidery and golden touches. Prints carefully reproduce the seabed and its surreal creatures, in the form of long evening dresses enriched with contrasting lace edges. Then come the accessories: leather shoulder bags in perfect gypsy style with inserts and floral, romantic designs.
