International photography festival in the heart of Tuscany
Events, workshops and 21 exhibitions at the tenth edition of Cortona On The Move. Here are the events that this year will enliven the historic center of Cortona and the Medici Fortress of Grifalco.
Over the years, the exhibition has brought the most important names of international photography to the Tuscan village. Defined as “the best festival in Europe if not in the world” it is today the reference point for the contemporary visual scene.
Following the health emergency, the initiative, under the artistic direction of Arianna Rinaldo, opened on 11 July and will end on 27 September with a possible extension for the month of October. The appointments and meetings with photographers are scheduled instead from 24 to 27 September.
The edition is aimed at an international audience of professionals and enthusiasts, young people and students who love images in all their forms. The focus of the 2020 season is enriched by an important digital project: The Covid-19 Visual Project. This platform aims to become a permanent archive dedicated to the coronavirus pandemic to understand and remember what humanity is going through. The program also includes the works of some famous Canon Ambassadors: Jerome Sessini, Daniel Etter, Mashid Mohadjerin.
The ONTHEMOVE Cultural Association, organizing the festival in such a complex and critical period for Italy, wanted to give a signal to restart. Despite the logistical difficulties associated with the pandemic crisis, the public will once again be able to live a unique experience in the village: a lively and stimulating place for tourists and residents.
Cortona is the suggestive location immersed in the heart of Tuscany that frames the event. A splendid and important initiative to spend a weekend among ancient villages, gastronomic excellence and art, just a few steps from The Mall Firenze.
