Luxury in Forte dei Marmi

The Augustus Hotel & Resort, with its villas, park and history is the undisputed protagonist in Forte dei Marmi and Versilia.

In 1926 Edoardo Agnelli – son of the founder of FIAT Giovanni, and Gianni’s father – purchased the neo-Renaissance Villa Costanza built in the early 20th century, which was then named Villa Agnelli. Today, Villa Agnelli is the Hotel Augustus Lido, one of the central villas of the Augustus Hotel & Resort, built in the early 1950s by refurbishing another villa. The first core of the Augustus Hotel & Resort is in fact Villa Pesenti, a prime example in modernist style. After 1953 Augusta Pesenti transformed the original villa into the Hotel Augusta, which for over 20 years was the only luxury hotel in Versilia. Around this main structure, featuring balconies used as outdoor living rooms, seven eclectic villas designed by artists and architects were built in the following years inside the large park.

These unique and charming villas have maintained a cinematic touch, filled with art, culture and an international vibe. Protected and pampered, in total privacy, the hotel has been visited by the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Charlton Heston, Oriana Fallaci, Eugenio Montale, Francesco Messina, Mario Monicelli, Paul Anka, Vittorio Gassman, sports and television personalities and many of the Agnelli heirs.

On the beach, the renovated Augustus Beach Club bathing establishment features a heated salt water swimming pool, over 100 well-tended gazebos, a spa treatment facility with water sports, two restaurants and a conference hall. In the evenings, the Bambaissa restaurant, with a veranda on the sea, offers among the most refined kitchens in Versilia, particularly suitable for exclusive parties and candlelight dinners.
