Fashion, stars and photography

Throughout October Rome will be celebrating cinema in all its forms and expressions. A film festival now in its 11th edition, but also a memorable event for everything to do with fashion and lifestyle.

One example is the temporary exhibition space in the Spazio D at the MAXXI National Museum of XXI Century Arts, dedicated to fashion pictures by Francesco Escalar. A dutiful tribute to a master of photography among the most beloved of Italian cinema. His portraits have left an unmistakable mark on the relationship between cinema and fashion. There are about 70 works on display, among others dedicated to masters like Bernardo Bertolucci, Robert De Niro, Giuseppe Tornatore, Ferzan Ozpetek, actresses like Monica Bellucci, Valeria Bruni Tedeschi, Valeria Golino, Asia Argento, Sabrina Ferilli and talented actors such as Stefano Accorsi, Christian De Sica, Giuseppe Fiorello, Alessandro Gassman, Kim Rossi Stuart, Carlo Verdone and many others.

Glamorous and elegant Francesco Escalar has always worked with great care and refinement, which over time made him the favorite photographer among many actresses, willing to offer themselves to be pictured only by him. Escalar, also much in demand for advertising campaigns for major luxury brands such as Giorgio Armani, has always favored the 6×6 mm film over digital media, with his photos featuring on top Italian and international publications.

Until 23 October, the Rome Film Festival will take place at the Auditorium Parco della Musica designed by Renzo Piano, the best of the latest international film productions. The festival will span a number of other venues in the capital and will be punctuated by a rich programme of screenings, meetings, tributes, events and conventions.
